Leo's original source code, user interface, product identity, policies, documentation and other Leo-owned material are proprietary and confidential. No ownership interest is transferred by installation or use.
An approved user is granted a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to install and use Leo for lawful study, teaching and ordinary professional work, subject to the account, device and usage limits supplied with that user's access.
Except where applicable law does not permit the restriction, no person may copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, distribute, publish, sublicense, sell, rent, lease, make available, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, extract or create derivative works from Leo-owned software; bypass access, account, device, security or usage controls; remove proprietary notices; or use Leo to provide a competing hosted or distributed product, without Dr. Jay Desai's prior written permission.
Leo includes third-party components distributed under their own licences. Those components are identified in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.md and their licence files. This proprietary licence applies only to Leo-owned material and does not limit rights granted by a third-party licence.
Leo is provided without a guarantee that every output will be accurate, complete or suitable for a particular purpose. Users remain responsible for reviewing outputs and for complying with applicable law, institutional rules and third-party rights. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Leo and its licensor are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from use of the software.
Access may be suspended or terminated for breach of these terms. On termination, the user's right to use Leo-owned software ends. Third-party licence rights and provisions that by their nature survive remain unaffected.
Commercial distribution should use a lawyer-reviewed end-user licence and privacy notice. This file is the proprietary notice and limited-use licence for the pilot release; it is not an open-source licence.
